I visited the Mount Lofty botanic gardens in the Adelaide Hills recently, which is a quite different experience to visiting the city botanic gardens, especially because on this particular day, it was almost empty, other than a couple of lone wanderers. Other times I have been there it’s been filled with families and other people, and it was so lovely to be able to experience such a leisurely stroll among nature without such disruptions as the chattering of a hundred voices.

On the topic of photography, also on other occasions that I have visited the gardens, I have taken a digital camera and taken up to 600 photos in just a few hours. This time I took my film camera, which creates restrictions for how many photos I can take. With the scope to take hundreds of pictures comes a certain rush and desperation to take as many as possible in hope I’ll get a good one, so it was nice to slow down and enjoy the walk, only taking a few photos along the way. And I think they may be some of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken; I just love how they all turned out!
